TERROIR
Our vineyards are located in the winegrowing area of Komarna, which is situated in the Dubrovnik -Neretva County. They are planted on a hilly area 250 above sea level, and continue down to the sea. Although located only a few kilometres from the famous valley of the Neretva river, our Komarna winegrowing area features different soil composition and microclimatic conditions due to the proximity of the sea. On inclined areas, the incline can be up to 30% and soil is composed mostly of limestone with a small amount of organic matter. The vines face towards south and southwest enjoying over 2600 hours of sunshine per year. Presence of sea breeze that helps to regulate excessive moisture makes it easier to follow our organic approach, while the proximity of the sea prevents sudden changes in the atmospheric composition.
